The Microbial Pathogen Genomics Laboratory is seeking a skilled Bioinformatician to contribute to the delivery of NSW state-wide pathogen genomics services.
This key role involves working with a team of bioinformaticians, genomic epidemiologists, laboratory scientists, and clinicians to develop, maintain, and update bioinformatics tools and pipelines.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in informatics or genomics, experience in managing projects, and proficiency in open-source bioinformatics packages.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain bioinformatics tools and pipelines
* Manage multiple projects under supervision
* Collaborate with scientists and stakeholders to achieve project goals
* Contribute to the development of NSW Health's pathogen genomics services
Requirements
* Postgraduate degree in Science or Engineering in informatics or genomics
* Demonstrated experience in bioinformatics project management
* Proven proficiency in open-source bioinformatics packages
* Strong organisational and planning skills
