We are seeking a passionate Lecturer to join our Faculty of Health and Community Services and deliver high-quality teaching in our Master of Social Work program. This role offers the opportunity to shape future social workers, contribute to curriculum innovation, and engage with industry partners to ensure our graduates are practice-ready.
Responsibilities & Duties
* Teaching Excellence: Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and workshops in social work, aligning with AASW standards, TEQSA requirements, and AQF Level 9.
* Student Support: Mentor and supervise students during 1000+ hours of field education placements, fostering their professional and ethical development.
* Curriculum Development: Collaborate with academic staff to design and update curricula that reflect contemporary social work practices, including mental health, child welfare, and community development.
* Quality Assurance: Contribute to internal reviews and ensure compliance with AASW and TEQSA standards, supporting continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
* Scholarly Engagement: Participate in professional development or applied research in areas such as social justice, trauma-informed practice, or cultural competence to enhance program outcomes.
* Industry Collaboration: Build relationships with social service agencies and community stakeholders to strengthen placement opportunities and graduate employability.
* Student Success: Support student engagement and well-being through academic advising and inclusive teaching practices.
About You
To excel in this role, you will have:
* PhD degree in social work or a related field.
* Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
* Strong understanding of AASW, TEQSA, and AQF standards for social work education.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse student cohorts.
* Ability to design innovative, student-centered learning experiences using platforms like Moodle.
* High attention to detail and organizational skills to balance teaching, mentoring, and administrative tasks.
* Commitment to fostering an inclusive, collegiate academic environment.
* Experience in curriculum development or academic quality assurance.
* Familiarity with blended learning and educational technologies (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft 365).
* Evidence of scholarly activity, such as publications or conference presentations in social work or related fields.
