About The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) to join the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD), where we're committed to delivering Leading Care, Healthier Communities.
In this dynamic role, you'll divide your time across Drug Health Services (2 days) and Oral Health Services (3 days), providing expert clinical leadership and driving evidence-based nursing practice in both areas. As a CNC, you'll shape and improve care delivery through collaboration, innovation, and professional guidance. You'll be instrumental in designing services that foster clinical excellence, support research, and ensure the highest standard of patient-centred care.

What You'll Be Doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence based practice. The CNC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership. The CNC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CNC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty.

South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) offers an exceptional opportunity to be part of two vital and impactful services—Drug Health Services and Oral Health Services—working together to deliver Leading Care, Healthier Communities.
SWSLHD Drug Health Services provides a wide range of treatment options and interventions across the district for individuals, families, and carers affected by alcohol and drug use. Services include inpatient withdrawal at the Corella unit, outpatient clinics, the Opioid Treatment Program, and specialised teams such as the Aboriginal Drug & Alcohol Team and Youth Service. Recognised as a finalist in the NSW Health Excellence in Allied Health Awards, the team is known for compassionate, evidence-based care and innovative approaches.
SWSLHD Oral Health Services delivers essential dental care to eligible residents within Bankstown, Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Wingecarribee, and Wollondilly. With a strong focus on community health, services span general dental, emergency treatment, and tailored programs for children and vulnerable populations. The team is committed to providing accessible, high-quality dental care across hospitals and community settings.

How To Apply

* Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which the employee is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
* Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the relevant specialty.
* Demonstrated ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
* Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
* Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care.
* Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
* Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
