We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEN support worker to work with students aged 16 to 19 in Newcastle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide individual and small group support to post-16 learners with special educational needs.
* Assist with the delivery of tailored academic and life skills sessions.
* Encourage independence, communication, and self-confidence in every interaction.
* Support students in community-based learning and transition planning.
* Help manage behaviour and emotional regulation in a calm and positive manner.
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to meet individual learning goals.
* Monitor and document student progress and wellbeing.
Requirements:
* Experience working with students or young adults with SEN.
* A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Understanding of autism, SEMH, or learning difficulties.
* Awareness of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
* Relevant qualifications in education or support work are desirable.
* Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
