Base pay range

A$40.25/hr - A$40.25/hr


Your Role

Are you looking to expand your skillset and apply your expertise to challenging new environments? The Army Reserve is somewhere you can hone your skills, gain leadership qualities and work in a flexible, part‑time capacity.

As one of Australia's largest employers, the Army's reputation requires careful management. This flexible Public Relations role will have you developing, maintaining and monitoring the communications strategies that help shape how the Army is perceived in the broader community.


Responsibilities

* Lead public affairs teams to support Army exercises and operations.
* Provide expert advice to Army commanders to assist their decision‑making.
* Prepare media releases and undertake media liaison duties.
* Oversee the gathering of still and video imagery for Army publications.
* Operate effectively in a variety of challenging environments, including combat zones.


Qualifications

* Tertiary degree in Public Relations, Journalism, or Corporate Communications (Marketing degrees considered on a case‑by‑case basis).
* Minimum of 3 years paid work experience post‑degree, majoring in one of the disciplines above.
* Australian citizen able to obtain security clearance (non‑citizens may be eligible – see eligibility page).
* Evidence of education, experience, character and potential to manage PR duties in a combat zone.


Benefits

* Flexible, part‑time commitment – as little as one night a week, one weekend a month or a few weeks a year.
* Pay is tax‑free and increases with seniority and experience.
* Additional amounts for time spent on exercises and deployments.
