About the role
We are seeking a Data Scientist to help advance the bank’s capability in analytics, machine learning and AI. The role focuses on researching, developing and operationalising models that improve customer experience, strengthen risk management and support strategic decision making.
Key responsibilities
* Develop and operationalise machine learning and AI models that support customer and business outcomes.
* Work end to end on model lifecycle activities including problem definition, experimentation, validation, deployment and monitoring.
* Partner with stakeholders to understand business challenges, gather requirements and translate them into structured analytical approaches.
* Prepare, analyse and engineer data from large and varied sources to support modelling and insight generation.
* Apply responsible and ethical AI practices while meeting governance, documentation and regulatory expectations.
* Collaborate closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, Governance and external partners to deliver scalable solutions.
* Communicate complex findings in clear, accessible language that informs decision making across the organisation.
* Contribute to uplifting analytical literacy through knowledge sharing and strong documentation practices.
What will you bring
* Proven experience applying data science in a commercial environment, ideally with exposure to financial services or regulated datasets.
* Strong capability in statistical modelling, predictive analytics and machine learning using Python, R, SQL and common ML libraries.
* Experience working with large and diverse datasets including data wrangling, feature engineering and model evaluation.
* Familiarity with cloud analytics platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks or major cloud providers.
* Practical understanding of MLOps concepts including version control, model lifecycle management and deployment pipelines.
* Clear communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and present insights that support decision making.
* Experience working in iterative delivery environments and contributing to well documented, reproducible analytical workflows.
* Awareness of model governance, ethical AI considerations, privacy requirements and risk management expectations.
* A degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field is desirable.
