The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students birth to 18 years.

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Senior Secondary Certificate Reform Division (SSCRD) in a 5 month fixed term full-time position.

In 2020 the Victorian Government committed to implementing the recommendations made in the Review into Vocational and Applied Learning Pathways in Senior Secondary Schooling (the Firth Review) to improve vocational and applied learning options for Victorian students.

VCAA's role in this reform is to implement, manage and continue to develop the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) and Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC)- the qualifications, curriculum and assessment.

* Salary: $138,631 - $185,518
* Full Time Fixed term position until 30 June 2026
* Usual hours of work: Full time (flexible work conditions are available)
* Usual work location: East Melbourne

About the division/unit

SSCRD are leading and implementing generational reform to Victoria's senior secondary certification in response to the 2020 Review into Vocational and Applied Learning Pathways in Senior Secondary Schooling.

The reforms are supporting all Victorian secondary students to access engaging curriculum where they can connect their learning to real-life and workplace experiences.

The introduction of the VCE Vocational Major (VM) and the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) in 2023 supports students to pursue high-quality and valued vocational pathways aligned to their strengths and interests and to finish schooling with the skills and capabilities.

About the role/role purpose:

The Project Manager - Education Specialist will work within the VCAA Senior Secondary Certificate Reform Division (SSCRD)to lead implementation and change in relation to certification, curriculum and assessment associated with the VCE VM and the VPC.

The role will include:

* Leading and contributing to major reform projects including;
* the proposed VCE VM assessment model
* the next steps of policy development and implementation for the integrated VCE
* development and delivery of best practice professional learning to teachers and schools.
* Providing specialist expertise and professional knowledge in relation to senior secondary certificate and curriculum reform.
* Demonstrating strategic and intellectual leadership in relation to senior secondary certificate and curriculum reform and provide input to policy and program development for other related reforms.
* Developing briefings and papers for consideration by the Secretary, Ministers, governance and stakeholder committees.
* Consulting with stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes for Victorian students.
* Designing and delivering programs to support schools to implement the VCE VM and VPC curriculum and certificates with fidelity, and to ensure the new qualifications are embedded within the VCE.

* You have solid spoken and written communication skills in writing emails, letters and reports.
* You are a strong problem solver; you identify and provide workable solutions.
* You have experience developing and delivering senior secondary curriculum especially in applied learning programs is essential.
* You bring experience developing, delivering and supporting teachers to understand best practice assessment in applied learning is essential.
* You have Leading teacher, Learning Specialist or similar/equivalent experience in an educational setting.
* You have proven experience delivering professional learning to teachers or other professionals.
* You have demonstrated experience developing and implementing policy.

Experience and qualifications:

A graduate or post-graduate qualification in assessment, applied learning, or a related field is desirable.
