National Retail Workplace | Multi‐Site Network | High Impact Contract Role
A major national retail organisation with 350+ stores across Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer for an initial 4‐month contract, with an immediate start. This role is ideal for someone who can quickly step into a busy workplace and provide technical leadership across a large‐scale, distributed network.
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead and manage the network landscape across national retail stores, distribution centres, and corporate sites.
* Provide senior‐level operational support for all network, security, and wireless infrastructure, ensuring availability, performance, and rapid issue resolution.
* Oversee the rollout, installation, and configuration of new network equipment and store technologies, meeting tight operational timelines.
* Take ownership of complex incidents, perform detailed root‐cause analysis and implement long‐term fixes.
* Support key IT projects including network upgrades, security uplifts, WAN improvements, and infrastructure refresh initiatives.
* Review emerging technologies, recommend improvements, and contribute to overall network strategy during the contract period.
What You Bring
* Relevant IT qualification or equivalent industry experience.
* 5–7+ years' experience in senior‐level networking roles, ideally across multi‐site or retail environments.
* Strong hands‐on expertise with Cisco routers, switches, wireless, and Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate).
* Deep understanding of VPN technologies, secure remote access, routing protocols, and network security principles.
* Proven ability to operate autonomously, handle high‐pressure environments, and resolve issues quickly and logically.
* Current or previously held CCNA / CCNP (or similar certifications) highly desirable.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to confidently engage technical and operational stakeholders.
* A proactive, team‐oriented attitude with resilience, flexibility and a robust work ethic.
