Position Title: Radio Technician - Tait Systems 6-month initial CONTRACT with potential extension Working arrangement: FIFO 8/6 Roster ( Regional Location in WA ) Shift: 12 hours per day Daily rate: $800 (inc SUPER) ROLE OVERVIEW We are currently seeking an experienced Radio Technician to play a pivotal role in a major site-wide communications upgrade. In this hands-on field position, you will be the driving force behind modernizing critical two-way radio infrastructure, transitioning legacy terminal networks to modern Tait TM9400 platforms. You will execute complex hardware swap-outs and system integrations across a highly diverse operational fleet. This includes heavy earthmoving machinery (HME), commercial light vehicles, solar and mains-powered stationary infrastructure, and various other mobile plant assets. Operating within a fast-paced FIFO environment, you will ensure seamless connectivity and operational continuity for site personnel while championing exceptional safety and quality standards. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING System Deployment: Lead the physical installation and integration of modern Tait mobile terminals across a wide array of designated site equipment, ensuring all units are fully functional and operational. Commissioning & Testing: Meticulously program, configure, and rigorously validate newly installed radio hardware to guarantee optimal network performance and signal integrity. Legacy Decommissioning: Safely dismantle, catalogue, and process outgoing legacy two-way radio units for proper return or disposal in line with project guidelines. Safety & Compliance: Maintain uncompromising adherence to site health and safety protocols while executing all field installation tasks to the highest technical standards. Daily Coordination: Actively participate in morning toolbox talks and operational briefings with the on-site communications team to align on daily targets. Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify potential technical roadblocks or safety hazards in the field, ensuring timely escalation to the Communications Lead or Technology Project Managers. Data & Reporting: Maintain meticulous, up-to-date records of project progress, delivering accurate installation logs and completion statuses for every serviced asset. MORE ABOUT YOU Technical Proficiency: Proven, hands-on expertise in the programming, configuration, and physical deployment of Tait communication systems (specifically TM9400 or similar tier-tier hardware). FIFO Experience: A strong, demonstrated track record working effectively within Fly-In-Fly-Out mining or heavy industrial operations. Safety Champion: An unwavering commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) principles, with a deep understanding of the critical nature of maintaining reliable field communications in high-risk environments. Asset Versatility: Prior experience performing technical installations on heavy mobile equipment (haul trucks, excavators), light vehicles, and remote base stations. Problem Solver: Exceptional troubleshooting skills with the ability to work autonomously in the field, ensuring high-quality technical outcomes under pressure.
