We are seeking experienced, full-time Farm Hands to join our macadamia orchards in Maryborough. This opportunity will appeal to people who enjoy hands on, outdoor work and take pride in doing things safely and well.
While previous orchard or agricultural experience is highly valued, we also encourage applications from people with transferable skills from industries such as landscaping, grounds maintenance, construction, civil works, manufacturing, trades, or plant operation. This role suits someone who enjoys variety, working as part of a closeknit team and contributing to the ongoing success of a largescale orchard operation.
Key Responsibilities
As a valued member of the team, reporting to the Orchard Manager, your responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out a broad range of orchard and farm maintenance activities
* Operating, maintaining and caring for farm machinery and equipment
* Identifying, reporting and actively managing safety hazards
* Assisting with irrigation installation, monitoring and ongoing maintenance
* Performing planting, pruning and general tree care tasks
* Applying herbicides and pesticides in line with safety and environmental requirements
* Supporting seasonal operational activities across the orchard
* Mentoring, guiding and training less experienced team members to build capability
* Working collaboratively to maintain a positive, productive and safe work environment
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require the following:
* A current C Class Driver's Licence
* Proven experience in hands on, practical work, ideally within farming, orchards, landscaping, grounds maintenance, construction or similar environments
* A strong commitment to safe work practices, with good attention to detail when working with machinery, equipment and chemicals
* The ability and confidence to share knowledge, mentor others and support onthejob learning
* Reliability and flexibility, with availability to work varied hours to meet operational demands (including potential Saturday work)
* A Chemical Users Certificate (preferred)
* Certificate II or III in Rural Studies, Horticulture or Agriculture (preferred)
