Offer description

At Aurecon, we see the future through a very different lens. Do you?

Innovation, digital engineering and technical excellence are at the heart of everything we do. Are you energised by the renewable energy transition in WA and the NT — delivering utility-scale solar and BESS projects that strengthen Australia's energy security and decarbonise the economy? We are.

What will you do?

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer – Solar & BESS to join our Energy and Power Generation team in Perth.

In this role, you will support the design and delivery of MW-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects, including major solar developments in the tens to hundreds of megawatts. You'll work across the full project lifecycle—concept, feasibility, design and construction support—bringing strong technical capability and a practical delivery mindset.

You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across the business (civil, structural, HV/substations, transmission, protection and control, grid connection, advisory and PM) and coordinate with distributed delivery teams as required to achieve high-quality outcomes for our clients. There will also be an opportunity to contribute to projects in the Defence sector, where security requirements apply. Critically, you will also get access to a network of engineers that have worked on many of Australia's flagship renewable energy and storage projects.

Here are the key things you will need to 'bring ideas to life':

* Demonstrated experience in electrical design for utility-scale solar and/or BESS, with proven delivery on MW-scale projects.

* Strong understanding of solar/BESS electrical systems and interfaces, such as (as relevant to your experience):

* inverter-based generation and grid-forming / grid-following considerations

* DC collection systems, string/central inverter configurations and inverter stations

* MV reticulation, switchgear, transformers, earthing and lightning protection

* BESS architecture (PCS, battery racks/containers, HV/MV integration, auxiliaries)

* protection, control and metering interfaces, including integration with substations and grid connection requirements

* Experience producing high-quality deliverables: single line diagrams, equipment specifications, calculations, technical reports, design packages and review documentation.

* Ability to work effectively in integrated teams across the business and coordinate with offshore/distributed delivery teams while maintaining quality and programme alignment.

* Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with clients, OEMs, contractors, NSPs and internal stakeholders.

* A collaborative mindset with a focus on safety, constructability, and delivering to scope, budget and schedule.

* Degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering (working toward Chartered status will be highly regarded).

This role may work on Defence-related projects. For this candidates must be Australian or New Zealand citizen to meet baseline clearance eligibility requirements (and be willing to undergo relevant screening/clearance processes).

We know today's complex challenges can only be solved by bringing together diverse teams from across our business. You'll have opportunities to work on renewable energy programs across WA and nationally—helping deliver infrastructure that accelerates the energy transition and supports resilient communities.

Think you know Aurecon? You may be surprised.

Aurecon's strength has always been our people. It's our people who build our shared purpose and bring ideas to life. It's our people who imagine and co-create with our clients a better future for people and the planet.

You probably know many of our award-winning projects already. The new Allianz Stadium in Sydney? That was us. Tāmaki Regeneration in Auckland? Also us. And major energy programs across the region? Yes—us too.

When you join us, you're not only joining a global design, engineering and advisory firm—you're joining a community working together to solve some of the world's most complex challenges.

Ready to bring ideas to life?

Then please apply. Remember, it's you—your thinking, your technical expertise and how you bring ideas to life—that matters. Your background, individuality and unique needs will be valued.
