Job description OUR STORY
The Central Land Council (CLC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The CLC represents traditional landowners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people in the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres.
The CLC provides its constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights.

The CLC's communications team is responsible for developing and delivering innovative communications and public relations strategies, including building effective media relationships. The team ensures that the CLC is able to influence public opinion and communicates effectively with Aboriginal people in the bush.
This position supports the communications manager in the co-ordination and management of all aspects of the communications team functions and staff, with a particular focus on communication with the CLCs constituents, management of external stakeholders and promotion of the views and achievements of the CLC. The work includes issues management and developing media relationships and responses, producing CLC publications, co-ordinating and promoting public events and providing high level advice on communications issues and strategies to the chief executive officer, senior staff and the CLC's executive committee.

Total effective package includes: base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, relocation assistance, annual airfare allowance and salary packaging options. Annual progression within the salary scale is subject to satisfactory performance. Progression is in accordance with annual increments set out in an enterprise agreement.
