Job Title
The role of a live-in chef at a remote island resort is a unique opportunity to live and work in a beautiful location.
Responsibilities
* High-volume catering: Plan, prepare, and cook meals for 70+ people.
* Menu planning & preparation: Manage kitchen operations and meal service with efficiency and consistency.
* Stock management: Oversee inventory, ordering, receiving, and storing food and supplies in a remote location.
* Safety and hygiene: Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
* Team leadership: Lead and mentor kitchen staff for smooth operations.
* Adaptability: Adjust menus and service models to accommodate supply chain challenges.
Requirements
* Experience: Proven experience as a chef in remote locations with demonstrated ability to cater for large groups.
* Skills: Strong cooking skills with varied menu creation.
* Resilience: Ability to work long hours and handle physical and mental demands of a remote work environment.
* Work ethic: Proactive attitude with ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
* Certifications: Relevant chef qualifications and Food Safety Supervisor certificate are highly regarded.
* Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible rosters including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays on a split-shift basis.
