Project Officer – Operational Control Systems (OCS)

About the role

As a Project Officer – Operational Control Systems, you’ll support Project Managers in delivering a suite of projects that enhance the performance and reliability of V/Line’s operational technology. You’ll coordinate project activities, track progress, manage documentation, and ensure that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving problems collaboratively.

Key accountabilities include:

· Support the delivery of OCS projects aligned with business objectives.

· Coordinate project activities and assist Project Managers across multiple streams.

· Track project milestones and report on performance metrics.

· Maintain accurate project documentation and governance records.

· Liaise with stakeholders to ensure clear communication and issue resolution.

· Assist with risk identification and mitigation planning.

· Manage requisitions, purchase orders, and invoice processing.

· Provide administrative support including meeting coordination and reporting.

· Contribute to continuous improvement and best practice implementation.

About you

You’re a proactive and detail-oriented professional who enjoys working across multiple projects and teams. You bring strong organisational skills, a solutions-focused mindset, and a genuine interest in operational technology and infrastructure delivery.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

· Deep understanding of project management principles and tools.

· Familiarity with ISO 55001 and risk management practices.

· Experience in a similar role.

· Exposure to operational technology or rail infrastructure is advantageous.

· Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.

· Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to change.

· Demonstrated alignment with V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.

Desirable

· Tertiary qualification in Business, Project Management, or a related field.

· Experience in rail maintenance.

The total remuneration package for this role starts at approximately $93,027 inclusive of superannuation, with flexibility based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
