Your opportunity
As a part-time (3 days per week) Extension Advisor, you'll be a trusted point of contact for farmers in your region (covering the Kempsey to Qld/NSW border region). You'll engage regularly with dairy businesses to understand their needs, build strong relationships, and connect them with the right services and resources to improve profitability and sustainability.
This role is all about delivering innovative, well-planned extension activities that drive practice change on farm. You'll coordinate programs, events, and projects, and collaborate with internal teams to share farmer insights that help shape industry priorities. Every day, you'll make a tangible impact by helping farmers succeed.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a key contact for farmers, building long-term relationships and understanding their business needs. Plan, coordinate, and deliver extension programs and events that support practice change. Facilitate on-farm, in-person, and online engagement to share knowledge and drive adoption of best practices. Capture and share farmer insights to inform regional and national priorities. Collaborate with regional networks, advisers, and service providers to ensure farmers have access to the latest R&D and resources. Work closely with your regional team and broader Dairy Australia colleagues to deliver a seamless farmer experience.
About You
You're passionate about agriculture and enjoy working directly with farmers to make a difference. You bring:
A degree in agriculture, environmental science, veterinary science, or significant agricultural experience. Experience in extension, facilitation, education/training, or engagement activities within the agricultural industry. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. The ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, both on-site and remotely.
