Who we are
The Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) is part of the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. As primary agency for Australia's Antarctic Program (AAP), the AAD is responsible for achieving the Australian Government's Antarctic goals. These goals are to:
* maintain the Antarctic Treaty System and enhance Australia's influence within it,
* protect the Antarctic environment,
* understand the role of Antarctica in the global climate system,
* undertake scientific work of practical, economic and national significance.
The AAD also has responsibility for administering the Australian Antarctic Territory and the Territory of Heard Island and McDonald Islands.
The Assets and Infrastructure (A&I) Branch provides and maintains the equipment and infrastructure to support the AAP. A&I Branch activities include the maintenance of existing Antarctic stations, the delivery of new station infrastructure and management of the supporting mechanical equipment used on station through to the delivery of essential infrastructure in Tasmania. The Branch manages all major infrastructure projects in support of AAP outcomes.
The Tasmanian Infrastructure Projects Section is responsible for the delivery of wharf and portside facilities for the operation of RSV Nuyina and other chartered vessels to support the AAD's shipping and logistics teams.
The Job
* Support the planning and delivery of infrastructure projects in Tasmania to support the AAP.
* Definition of project requirements, establishment of delivery strategy and project delivery within agreed scope, time, and budget.
* Engage with and influence stakeholders at all levels, building trusted relationships.
* Preparation of proposals and reports and presentation of updates to senior leadership.
* Manage support of contractors supporting the project, including budget.
* Manage project governance, risks, issues, and dependencies to keep the project on track.
* Drive continuous improvement in project delivery practices.
