About the Role
Our Federal Government Client seeks a Senior Software Engineer (ServiceNow Developer) for a long-term contract. Initial contract duration is 12 months with extension options, located at our client’s Canberra location with potential hybrid working arrangements.
Responsibilities
* Deliver custom portal development using UI Builder or React, ensuring secure integration with ServiceNow APIs and government data models.
* Perform advanced ServiceNow customisations including Business Rules, UI Pages, UI Macros, UI Scripts, Script Includes, Client Scripts, workflows, custom tables and reporting.
* Undertake integration and scripting using Glide, JavaScript, Ajax, XML, JSON, HTML and CSS.
* Deliver advanced workflow, Playbook and Customer Service Management (CSM) development and customisation.
* Identify and escalates issues and risks appropriately within the team structure.
* Diagnose and resolve technical issues through analysis and fault rectification.
* Support design, configuration, testing and implementation of ServiceNow capabilities.
* Assist with technical design standards, documentation, test plans and user documentation.
* Maintain records and documentation in accordance with the client’s requirements.
* Work effectively in an Agile environment with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Maintain currency in emerging technologies and IT best practices.
* Build and sustain effective stakeholder relationships and contribute to continuous ICT improvement.
Qualifications
* Extensive experience in ServiceNow development, including CMS and UI Builder.
* Strong knowledge of ServiceNow scripting, integrations and platform capabilities.
* Proven experience in software development, systems design, integration, and deployment at a senior level (SFIA Level 6 or equivalent).
* Demonstrated experience working in Agile delivery environments.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with experience in troubleshooting complex systems.
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to develop technical documentation, test plans and design standards.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively within small teams and broader organisational environments.
Desirable
* Experience working in Federal Government or highly regulated environments.
* Experience with advanced ServiceNow modules such as Playbooks and CSM.
* Understanding of emerging technologies and ICT innovation practices.
* Experience contributing to enterprise‑level technology transformation initiatives.
Security Clearance
Candidates must be Australian citizens with NV1 or higher security clearance due to security clearance requirements.
