About the role
We are seeking two experienced and dedicated Aboriginal Education Officers to join our dynamic team at Minimbah Aboriginal Preschool and Primary School in Armidale, New South Wales. This full-time role will play a crucial part in supporting the educational and cultural needs of our Aboriginal students, ensuring they receive the best possible start to their learning journey.
What you'll be doing
* Providing one-on-one and small group support to Aboriginal students, focusing on literacy, numeracy and cultural awareness
* Working collaboratively with teachers to develop and implement culturally appropriate teaching and learning strategies
* Organising and facilitating cultural activities and events to celebrate Aboriginal heritage and identity
* Acting as a liaison between the school, students' families and the local Aboriginal community
* Assisting with the development and delivery of professional development for teaching staff on Aboriginal education and engagement
* Contributing to the overall wellbeing and success of Aboriginal students at the school
What we're looking for
* Recognised qualifications in teaching, education support or a related field
* Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal students and communities in an educational setting
* Working with Children check, First Aid and Child Protection certificates, or willingness to obtain
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships
* Deep understanding of Aboriginal culture, history and the educational needs of Aboriginal students
* Commitment to promoting reconciliation and closing the gap in educational outcomes
* Passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of Aboriginal children
* This is an Aboriginal designated position and confirmation of Aboriginality will be required.
