About the Role
A General Hospital Medical Officer (HMO) position is available within a highly regarded regional health service, offering broad clinical exposure across a range of acute and subacute specialties.
This role is well suited to junior doctors who have completed their initial postgraduate years and are seeking to consolidate core clinical skills in a structured, well-supported hospital environment. The position provides strong supervision, a commitment to teaching and learning, and excellent preparation for future specialty training pathways.
Clinical Rotations
The role offers exposure to a range of high-quality rotations, which may include:
* Emergency Medicine
* Intensive Care Medicine (ICU)
* Anaesthetics
* General Medicine
Rotations are designed to support the development of core competencies in acute care, procedural medicine, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver safe, high-quality inpatient and acute medical care under appropriate supervision
* Participate in ward rounds, clinical handovers, and multidisciplinary meetings
* Contribute to after-hours and rostered clinical services as required
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with hospital policies
* Engage in education, training, and performance review processes
Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory)
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements to be considered:
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* Current General Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
* Minimum of two (2) years’ postgraduate clinical experience
