Academic Position

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Electronic Engineering

Join our community of esteemed academics as we seek an exceptional individual to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of our Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

* Teach and coordinate undergraduate, masters, and graduate diploma programs in electronic engineering, embedded systems, and computer engineering areas.
* Conduct high-quality research in micro-nano electronics, developing next-generation brain-inspired sensors and processing systems, and related areas.
* Develop and lead innovative research projects, attracting funding and producing high-quality outputs.
* Collaborate with colleagues, support scholarly development, and mentor staff.
* Participate in program management, course coordination, and student supervision.


Key Selection Criteria

* Level B Appointment:
o Emerging track record for quality research outputs in micro-nano electronics, demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and ability to produce high-quality curriculum or program materials.
o Ability to undertake course coordination, work effectively with students, supervise higher degree by research candidates, and build networks with industry partners.
o Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration, and mandatory qualifications: PhD in a related field or approved AQF equivalency with relevant industry experience.
* Level C Appointment:
o Nationally recognised research track record in micro-nano electronics, demonstrated ability to coordinate and teach large courses, prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and implement innovative approaches to student-centred learning.
o Ability to manage large programs, support student issues related to effective learning, and have extensive experience supervising higher degree by research candidates.
o Experience in research leadership, mentoring staff, attracting external funding, managing funded projects, and understanding of university financial, governance, and quality management systems.
o Mandatory qualifications: PhD in a related field or approved AQF equivalency with relevant industry experience.


Our Department

The Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering is one of RMIT's largest and most respected, with a strong reputation in research and innovation. We host internationally recognised academics and support over 50 researchers through significant grant funding. Our key research areas include photonics, optical systems, electrification, sensors, materials, electronic manufacturing, power, automation, and communication networks.

Major initiatives include leading the ARC Centre of Excellence in Optical Microcombs (COMBS), the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre (ITTC) in Electrifying Australia for a Net-zero Future, the $15M D2D facility for prototyping and upscaling in electronic manufacturing, the Centre for Opto-electronic Materials and Sensors (COMAS), and Defence partnerships with DSTG focusing on radars, RF systems, antennas, and resilient space and wireless communications.

We offer undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering, Electronic & Computer Engineering, and Software Engineering, as well as double degrees and three postgraduate programs. Our Curriculum spans areas including Electrical, Power, Control and Automation; Analog/Digital, RF and microelectronics; Embedded, Computer and Software; and Communication and Networks. Offshore teaching programs are delivered in Hong Kong and India. Our graduates are valued for hands-on experience and practical knowledge from our laboratory facilities.
