About the Role
The Design Placemaking Branch plays a key role in embedding the Sunshine Coast design principles into council projects, ensuring sustainable and high-quality infrastructure that is aligned with community needs. You will guide long-term planning, support major projects, and contribute to the region's liveability and growth.
As the Manager of Design Placemaking Services, you will lead a multidisciplinary branch delivering strategic design outcomes across placemaking, landscape architecture, engineering design, and work that will shape the Sunshine Coast's public spaces and transport infrastructure, precinct master plans.
* Strategic Leadership: Drive long-term vision and annual planning for the Design and Placemaking Services Branch, aligning the Council's Corporate Operational Plans to deliver region-shaping infrastructure and public spaces.
* Multidisciplinary Oversight: Lead three specialist teams: Placemaking, Landscape Architecture, Engineering Design, Surveying, to deliver high-quality and sustainable design outcomes for streetscapes, parks, transport precinct master plans.
* Executive-Level Project Management: Provide expert design project leadership for major capital works and special initiatives, ensuring integration of the Sunshine Coast Design principles and alignment with community stakeholder expectations.
* Governance Operational Excellence: Oversee compliance, financial management, risk, safety, human resources, and foster a high-performance culture that reflects the Council's values and commitment to excellence.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience spans urban design, landscape architecture, placemaking, proven ability to deliver complex projects in large and diverse organisations in both the public and private sectors. Bring expertise in project financial management, stakeholder engagement, change leadership, track record driving innovation, aligning outcomes with organisational goals and community needs.
