The Coordinator - Kanyjaru Ngarnarna Wapa initiative is a pivotal role that requires strategic leadership to create and implement a safe and supported environment for women and children in Port Hedland.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement the Kanyjaru Ngarnarna Wapa initiative, fostering partnerships with key stakeholders including the Hedland Aboriginal Strong Leaders Collective and Julyardi Aboriginal Corporation.
* Contribute to providing services that address the expressed needs of women and children, focusing on keeping them safe and supported to recover and improve their wellbeing.
* Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including the Elders, to ensure the success of the initiative.
* Deliver services within the Pilbara region, specifically in Port Hedland, to meet the unique needs of the community.
Requirements
* A deep understanding of Aboriginal culture and values.
* An appropriate qualification in human services, social work, or equivalent experience and skills.
* Demonstrated capacity to develop collaborative working relationships with stakeholders and ability to work effectively between MacKillop and Julyardi Aboriginal Corporation.
* Strong knowledge and understanding of family and domestic violence frameworks and practice.
* Extensive experience and demonstrated skills in working with vulnerable children, young people, and families, and a developed knowledge and understanding of the impact of trauma and working in a trauma-informed way.
