About the Project
The Museum is delivering an exciting pipeline of exhibition refurbishments and new experiences that showcase its world-class natural science and cultural collections. Working within a dynamic Exhibitions branch, this program brings together diverse voices, subject-matter expertise and innovative design to create engaging, accessible and sustainable visitor experiences.
Projects are delivered within a complex environment, balancing the needs of a heritage building, operational continuity, and the highest standards of collections care, safety and compliance.
About the Role
This role is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering a range of exhibition projects from concept through to completion, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time and within budget.
Working as part of a small and agile project management team, you will oversee all stages of exhibition development—managing timelines, stakeholders, procurement and production—while ensuring alignment across the organisation. You'll prepare project documentation including plans, briefs, business cases and risk assessments, and manage contracts in line with NSW Government requirements.
A key focus of the role is ensuring all projects meet relevant codes, regulations and standards, including WH&S, the Building Code of Australia and accessibility and sustainability best practices. You'll also play a critical role in maintaining project records and ensuring minimal disruption to Museum operations, staff and visitors during delivery.

* Clerk Grade 7/8
* Fixed Term until 19 September 2026
* Full Time, 35 hours per week
You will be paid a competitive total remuneration package of $128,906 - $142,692, including an annual salary of $113,574 - $125,720, plus employer's contribution to superannuation (currently 12%) and annual leave loading.

About you
You are an experienced project professional with a strong track record of delivering complex projects in fast-paced environments with competing priorities. You bring excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and compliance.
A confident communicator, you build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and know how to navigate competing needs to achieve successful outcomes. You have experience managing procurement processes and contracts, and a solid understanding of relevant regulations and standards.
You're solutions-focused, adaptable and thrive in environments where no two projects are the same—bringing a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering engaging, inclusive and high-quality experiences.
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience in managing projects of diverse types in cultural venues and an understanding of the processes involved with delivering exhibitions of varying size, with an emphasis on public spaces that have a heritage component featuring high-value cultural and natural science collections.
* Demonstrated project management skills together with knowledge of and experience in working collaboratively with diverse subject-matter experts responsible for content and design development in a museum program or public space.
* Excellent working knowledge and understanding of the application of guidelines, Work Health and Safety (WH&S) legislation and regulations; NSW government procurement and tendering processes; and building services and infrastructure, including building codes and standards.
* Adequate knowledge and experience to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in this Role Description.
* Class C Drivers' License and/or a Construction White Card are desirable.
Essential Requirements
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent Heritage or Arts & Culture industry experience along with a demonstrated understanding of educational and learning principles in museum settings.
