An established Tier 3 construction business specialising in commercial and residential fitout, refurbishment, and new build projects is seeking an experienced Head/Senior Estimator to lead its estimating function.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing all tendering activities, pricing strategies, and leading 2 estimators in a team performance across a diverse project portfolio.
The office is based in Prestons, Sydney NSW.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the estimating function across commercial and residential fitout, refurbishment, and new build projects
* Prepare, review, and finalise detailed cost estimates, BOQs, and tender submissions
* Develop and implement pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness and profitability
* Manage subcontractor and supplier pricing, negotiations, and procurement strategies
* Oversee tender programs and ensure all submission deadlines and requirements are met
* Review contract conditions, risk profiles, construction methodologies, and value engineering opportunities
* Provide accurate cost advice, tender reporting, and cashflow forecasting to senior management
* Mentor and develop estimators and junior team members
* Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers across NSW
* Drive continuous improvement in estimating systems, tools, and internal processes
Requirements
* 8–10+ years' experience in construction estimating
* Strong experience pricing commercial and residential fitout, refurbishment, and new build projects
* Proven background in a senior or lead estimating role
* In-depth knowledge of NSW construction costs, subcontractor markets, and procurement methods
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess risk and project viability
* Confident leader with excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office
