About you

As an experience Marine Biologist you will have a passion for storytelling and enjoy sharing knowledge with others. You have knowledge of Coral Reef Biology including the Great Barrier Reef. You are fun, friendly and confident, with the ability to engage with people and deliver great customer service. You are a team player who works well in a demanding environment. You see safety and quality focus as a must and are physically fit.

You have a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology or Bachelor of Environmental Science. You have your PADI Dive Master and Current Medical & Dive Insurance plus your First Aid and CPR (highly regard). You will also have your RSA and Food Hygiene certificates.

Candidates holding a Divemaster qualification will be highly regarded.


About the role

We are seeking a Marine Biologist due to our continued success and ongoing growth. You will be working within our GBR Biology team, a department with progressive and innovative conservation values dedicated to creating immersive memorable experience for our valued guests. These experiences come from our extensive site knowledge and our passion to share the numerous stories of the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef.

There are requirements for some weekend and public holiday work, but we cover this with an attractive remuneration package.


Your responsibilities will include:

Interpretation – Biology presentations, guided snorkel tours, semi-submersible tours and marine lab presentations

Monitoring – Eye on the Reef monitoring programs, Mars Reef Star monitoring, fine scale benthic survey techniques, fish underwater visual census surveys, coral spawning and settlement.

Reef Education - Delivering Reef Education programs to students from local, national and international schools & universities, training & supporting our Cultural Guides

Research – Our interests and projects include coral and fish biology, fish aggregations, coral spawning, juvenile crown-of-thorns starfish, hydrodynamics and coral rubble stabilisation.
