The Senior Cloud Engineer will operate within IMTS' Core Infrastructure & Enterprise Services team, the central group responsible for delivering core technology services that support research, teaching, and corporate operations across the University. The environment is a hybrid cloud landscape with low current cloud maturity and a strong mandate to accelerate cloud adoption. With a newly approved Cloud Strategy and a greenfield program commencing, the focus is on uplifting capability, transitioning from on-premise systems, and ensuring cloud architecture aligns with strategic and operational needs. Collaboration is central, with close interaction across infrastructure, networking, cyber, and service delivery teams.
The role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing multi-cloud solutions, primarily AWS and Azure - and providing expert technical advice across cloud architecture, operations, security, and automation. Key responsibilities include re-architecting on-prem workloads for cloud, developing cloud policies and frameworks, managing day-to-day cloud operations, driving Kubernetes adoption, and contributing to cost optimisation efforts. The Senior Cloud Engineer will also engage with stakeholders, develop detailed design documentation, support project-based initiatives, and help uplift the capability of a team with strong on-prem backgrounds. Relevant certifications, strong hands-on cloud experience, and the ability to guide others through the cloud transformation journey are essential.
