About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Butcher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cutting, trimming, and packaging meat products to a high standard while maintaining strict food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, cut, trim, bone, and portion meat products in accordance with specifications
* Operate butchery tools and equipment safely (knives, bandsaws, slicers, mincers)
* Ensure all products meet quality, freshness, and presentation standards
* Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment in line with food safety regulations
* Follow workplace health and safety (WHS) procedures at all times
* Monitor stock levels and minimise waste
* Package, label, and store meat products correctly
* Provide excellent customer service (for retail butchers)
* Assist with receiving and inspecting deliveries as required
Skills and Experience
* Proven experience as a Butcher or in a similar role
* Strong knife skills and knowledge of various meat cuts
* Understanding of food safety standards (HACCP)
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Good attention to detail and time management skills
* Physically fit and capable of manual handling
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications (Preferred)
* Certificate III in Meat Processing (Retail Butcher) or equivalent
* Food Safety Certificate
* Australian work rights (or visa eligible)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 per week
Work Location: In person
