Job Overview
The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the mechanical discipline scopes on an EPC (direct hire) Project. The role supervises and directs mechanical craft professionals, subcontractors, vendors, and other assigned personnel. The supervisor ensures construction performance meets specifications, schedules, and budgets.
Major Responsibilities
* Implement the project ES&H program and quality control program.
* Supervise, coordinate, and direct craft activities for mechanical disciplines.
* Coordinate craft safety training and enforce safe work practices with ES&H staff.
* Plan craft manpower and interface with Industrial Relations for recruitment, hiring, and training.
* Supervise and coordinate the 3‐week lookahead and work activities of mechanical craft professionals, maintaining overall responsibility for quality.
* Oversee the needs of mechanical crews for personnel, subcontractor support, construction services, equipment, tools, and consumables, optimizing utilization.
* Prepare weekly work plans in conjunction with area planners.
* Prepare material requisitions for all required tools and consumables and coordinate with the tool manager to obtain materials.
* Ensure all rigging and lifting activities are performed safely.
* Use current revision of drawings and documents for mechanical installation scopes.
* Interface with field engineering staff to resolve installation conflicts, errors, and obtain technical assistance for the craft workforce.
* Provide input to the quantity tracking application and report weekly installed quantities to the responsible field engineer.
* Coordinate and support mechanical related subcontractor and vendor work activities.
Education and Experience Requirements
* Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent).
* 8–10 years of relevant experience in construction and operations of a crushing and grinding facility.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Understanding of construction and operations of a crushing and grinding facility.
* Knowledge of Bechtel Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) core processes and Zero Accidents philosophy.
* Familiarity with Bechtel's Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).
* Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
* Knowledge of current industry quality standards and applicable code requirements.
* Experience with complex heavy mechanical infrastructure installations on ball mills and SAG mills.
* Experience with gearless motor drive installation (preferable).
* Experience in complex alignment and runout methodology.
