Principal Software Security Lead (Security Partnerships) SNSW G rade 11/12 - $157,569 to $189,561 superannuation 1 x O ngoing Full-Time Location - Haymarket, Parramatta or Gosford About the role As the M anager of the S ecurity P artners you will be a technical lead for one of Service NSW’s most experienced and expert teams, who have won awards for their delivery of innovative services. Forming a partnership with software engineers, you will c ollaborate with digital product teams to enhance our DevSecOps capabilities through people, processes, and practices. You will be involved in secure by design practices, supply chain security, automated governance, automated scanning tools and implementation of initiatives to reduce the cyber risk to the citizen and Service NSW. You will also use your Python or JavaScript skills to be involved in cutting edge automation of application security analysis and process. The Security Partners play a pivotal role in Service NSW Cyber, acting as the conduit for our digital colleagues, ensuring that the communications and collaboration across cyber and digital teams are seamless and efficient. The successful candidate needs to be a hands-on technical expert, with the breadth of experience of digital technologies to communicate effectively and command the respect of subject matter experts who can help deep dive into different areas of application development. We are seeking Principal level DevSecOps, software and application security engineers with coding experience to tackle this exciting role and manage this high-end team. Responsibilities include C ollaborating on architecture diagrams, threat models, vulnerability triage, CI/CD pipelines, risk management and identifying opportunities for automation. You will be a trusted partner for a portfolio of teams in Service NSW that could include digital identity, mobile applications, web applications, data transformation, fraud prevention and many other diverse products. You will also be able to spend part of your time engaging in developing automation, applications or dashboards to help gain insight into or adoption of application security practices. About You To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to both participate in a team making use of agile principles, as well as having sound hands-on experience of software application development. You must show the ability to advise and work with our principals and heads of engineering while ensuring you have substantial cyber security expertise. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, alongside practical experience in threat modelling and conducting workshops and analysis threat landscape to advise and prioritise activities. You must be a go-getter, proactive, and driven by a thirst for continuous learning in current development practices. Additionally, you will act as a pillar of knowledge for SMEs across the digital platform, including engineers, architects, and data analysts, from the most senior levels to juniors. By serving as a trusted advisor, the individual will gain confidence and be capable of negotiating and offering expertise in all cyber-related matters. In this role, the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable insights will be paramount.
