A globally recognised retail company is expanding its footprint in the Asia‑Pacific region and is looking for a Commercial Manager to lead and grow its operations in Australia. Reporting to: Commercial Director, APAC
Salary: A$150,000 – A$180,000 per annum.
About the Role:
As Commercial Manager for Australia, you'll be responsible for owning the commercial agenda and driving sustainable growth across the country. This role will require you to combine strategic thinking with strong execution capabilities, as you lead everything from route‑to‑market and pricing to retail execution and distributor management. You will serve as the key point of contact for local operations and act as a bridge between the Australian market and the broader APAC regional team.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Business Planning
* Define and execute the commercial strategy for Australia in alignment with regional business objectives.
* Develop annual and quarterly business plans focused on sales growth, brand visibility, and market expansion.
* Build, manage, and strengthen relationships with distributors and key trade partners.
* Ensure distributor performance is aligned with commercial targets, with clear KPIs, incentives, and accountability mechanisms.
* Review and optimise the route‑to‑market model to drive efficiency and coverage.
* Oversee retail sell‑in and sell‑out strategies, ensuring product availability and visibility across relevant channels.
* Develop pricing and promotional strategies that reflect consumer demand and competitive positioning.
* Coordinate with sales teams and external partners to execute trade marketing plans and in‑store activations.
Market Analysis & Reporting
* Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and consumer behaviours to identify opportunities and risks.
* Lead the development of dashboards and commercial performance reports for regional leadership.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with marketing, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure commercial plans are operationally feasible and financially sound.
* Collaborate with regional HQ to adapt global initiatives to local market needs.
What We're Looking For:
* Experience: Minimum 10+ years of experience in sales, business development, or commercial roles within the consumer goods or fashion retail industry.
* Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Australian retail landscape and consumer behaviour.
* Distributor Management: Proven ability to manage and grow distributor partnerships, with strong knowledge of RTM strategies.
* Commercial Acumen: Experience developing and executing pricing, channel, and trade marketing strategies.
* Leadership: Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
* Footwear or Lifestyle Brand Experience: Prior experience in the footwear, fashion, or lifestyle sector is highly preferred.
