The Activities/Leisure Coordinator plays a vital role in designing, coordinating, and delivering culturally relevant leisure programs for Elders.
These programs focus on promoting overall wellbeing through activities that celebrate culture, family, and community connections.
* Physical Wellbeing: Encouraging participation in physical activities that foster health and independence.
* Emotional Wellbeing: Providing opportunities for Elders to express themselves creatively and maintain emotional balance.
* Social Wellbeing: Organizing social activities that promote connection and community engagement.
* Spiritual Wellbeing: Supporting Elders in maintaining their spiritual practices and cultural identity.
Collaborating closely with Elders, families, and the care team is crucial in creating a supportive environment where Elders feel valued, respected, and empowered to maintain their autonomy and purpose.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Designing and implementing culturally sensitive leisure programs.
2. Coordinating with stakeholders to ensure program success.
3. Monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness.
4. Providing support and guidance to Elders participating in programs.
Requirements:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in a field such as Community Development or Cultural Studies.
* Experience working with Indigenous communities and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to work independently and as part of a team.
