Job Title: AVP & Commercial/Agricultural Lender
Overview
Summary of Job Responsibilities: Solicit for loan, deposit, and financial services business. Originate and maintain commercial/agricultural loan relationships. Manages own credit portfolio with primary accounts averaging greater than $250K. Provides credit analysis, approval, and monitoring for new and existing customers. Monitors incoming financial statements for covenant requirements. Perform collateral audits, accounts receivable analysis, and borrowing base certificate reviews. Sell products to new and existing customers with the goal of generating fee income. Teams with other senior commercial bankers, assisting with relationship management, ongoing customer communication, and active cross selling of related products and services. Performs all job responsibilities according to compliance and audit requirements.
Responsibilities
- Contact prospects and customers for new business.
- Interview loan applicants.
- Analyze credit worthiness.
- Establish structure of loans within framework of loan policy and extend loans up to approved lending authority per loan policy.
- Ensure documentation is completed and accurate.
- Monitor loans in repayment.
- Collect loans in default.
- Refer larger loan requests for approval or denial as per loan policy.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BA) and five plus years of experience in agriculture field and/or commercial lending experience.
- Specific, formal credit training which includes the ability to analyze complex balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements and the appropriate ratios for each.
- Must remain current on banking rules and regulations and adapt work processes and procedures as necessary according to changing regulations.
- Pay attention to detail and accuracy.
- Communicate new ideas in a productive manner.
- Independent, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Math aptitude and the ability to find system errors.
- Proficiency with bank software and technology.
- Team orientation and ability to adapt in a fun, quick‑paced environment.
- Self‑motivation, good organization skills, and excellent communication and phone skills.
