Role Details Role type:Flexible appointment fraction: 0.6–1.0 FTE, ContinuingFaculty:Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health SciencesDepartment / School:Department of Medical Education / Melbourne Medical SchoolSalary:$152,695 – $176,065 p.a. (pro rata for part-time) plus 17% superEligibility Note:This role is being advertised at Level C. However, applications from more senior Indigenous academics are also encouraged. Where a candidate is successful at a higher level, the scope of responsibilities will be aligned to the level of appointment and refined in consultation with Indigenous leadership within the School and Faculty.Only Indigenous Australians are eligible to apply for this role, as it is exempt under the Special Measure Provision, Section 12 (1) of the Equal Opportunity Act 2011 (Vic). "Indigenous" here means a person of Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander descent.Position Overview Lead Indigenous medical education at the University of Melbourne as Director of Indigenous Medical Education, shaping curriculum, assessment and culturally safe clinical training across the MD. Join Melbourne Medical School to grow Indigenous scholarship, mentor future clinicians and partner with communities, Aboriginal Health Services and clinical schools. Investing in you – 17% superannuation, benefits package including salary packaging, health and wellbeing programs, discounted services, and professional development opportunities.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design, delivery and improvement of Indigenous health curriculum and assessment across all four years of the MD.Develop culturally safe teaching resources, community placements and digital learning that centre First Nations concepts of health and wellbeing.Provide leadership in Indigenous health teaching, learning and evaluation to MD theme leads, subject coordinators and clinical schools.Lead and support the Wurru Wurru Health Unit team, including recruitment, supervision, workload planning and performance development.Build and sustain partnerships with Indigenous communities and health services and contribute to scholarship on Indigenous medical education.Key Qualifications & ExperienceHold tertiary qualifications in health, education or public health and experience in health professional education.Bring demonstrated experience designing or delivering Indigenous health curricula, teaching resources, placements or assessments in tertiary settings.Demonstrate leadership in supervising staff, planning workloads and achieving agreed teaching or project outcomes.Build strong relationships with Indigenous communities and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, informed by knowledge of health inequities.Work effectively across metropolitan and rural sites, including periodic travel, and engage in evaluation or scholarship.Benefits & PerksBuild future financial security with 17% superannuation.Supportive flexible work arrangements underpinned by our commitment to inclusion and well-being.Career development opportunities, including access to a range of tailored programs such as Academic Women in Leadership, and learning platforms including LinkedIn Learning.Progressive, considerate leave provisions to empower work-life balance and well-being, including leading parental leave, gender affirmation leave and cultural leave.Salary packaging and access to a range of discounted services including Bupa health insurance, and cultural and recreational benefits such as discounts for the Melbourne Theatre Company.Health and well-being services including a leading Employee Assistance Program.Application Information Visit "apply with us" to learn more about the process, including tips and FAQs.
