Research Associate in Environmental Engineering

Overview
The Research Associate (Level A) will maintain and develop their scholarly research and professional activities through the pursuit of defined projects and contribute towards teaching and learning in the School. The position is based at the UNSW Water Research Centre within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The role reports to Professor Richard Stuetz and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and develop scholarly research and professional activities through defined projects.
* Contribute towards teaching and learning at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Collaborate with industry stakeholders and practitioners in the Australian water and resource industries where appropriate.
* Undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent and applied research with limited supervision.
* Publish research findings and present at conferences; contribute to building cross-disciplinary collaborations.
Qualifications & Skills
* A PhD in Environmental Engineering and relevant work experience with industry collaboration.
* Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: air quality and treatment; water quality and management; chemical and sensory odorant analysis; data science including bioinformatics and/or machine learning.
* Ability to work constructively with practitioners in the Australian water and resource industries.
* Proven ability to conduct high quality academic research and to work independently with limited supervision.
* Track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
* Strong teamwork, collaboration across disciplines, and interpersonal skills.
* Evidence of commitment to teaching and learning development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Willingness to engage in professional development of teaching practice.
* Ability to support and inspire students and to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
* Understanding of UNSW's aims, objectives and values and relevant policies and guidelines.
Employment Details
* Salary, Level A - $91,381 - $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation
* Full time
* Fixed-term contract for 3 years
* Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia
