Senior Commercial Advisory Lead - 18 months Fixed Term
In Melbourne Water, you will act as a trusted advisor to the Chief Finance Officer, providing high‐impact financial and commercial guidance across a portfolio of new water and commercial projects.

We are looking for a commercially astute leader with deep experience in complex infrastructure or regulated environments, strong financial modelling and transaction expertise, and a track record of influencing at board and executive levels.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have a:
* Extensive experience as a trusted senior advisor within a financial, commercial, or corporate advisory role, ideally in infrastructure‐heavy or regulated environments.
* Strong skills in strategic thinking, investment decision support, and governance alignment.
* Expertise in end‐to‐end project lifecycle advisory (opportunity → transaction → delivery).
* Capability to balance commercial returns with regulatory, shareholder, and customer outcomes.
* Demonstrated professional leadership mindset and behaviours to lead change, drive alignment, and operate cross‐functionally.
* Proven ability to prepare and deliver board‐level investment papers and decision submissions with a positive history advising on complex commercial transactions and investment decisions.
* Advanced capability in financial modelling, valuation, and investment analysis (NPV, IRR, scenario modelling).
* Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and pricing environments with expertise in business case development and investment governance frameworks.
* Demonstrated experience with public‐private partnerships (PPP), joint ventures, or similar structures and exposure to regulated sectors, desirable: water, energy, resource recovery, industrial projects.
A CPA / CA (or equivalent) alongside a tertiary qualification in finance, economics, commerce, law, or engineering (or equivalent experience) is required.
