**About the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations**

**The Role**
Reporting to the First Assistant Secretary (FAS), Workforce Australia for Business Division, the Executive Assistant is responsible for supporting the FAS in their day-to-day activities. The EA works closely with the Executive Officer (EO) to support the FAS and Senior Executive across the Division, to ensure timely management of workflow and effective operation of the FAS office.
The EA provides high level administrative support, including liaison with senior internal and external stakeholders and line areas across the department. Duties are carried out under limited direction and include prioritising diary requests and managing all aspects of the administration of the office of the FAS. This role requires initiative and the ability to make administrative decisions on behalf of the division. This role also involves providing support, guidance, and assistance to the Division's Executive Assistant network.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
We are seeking an individual with the following skills and capabilities:
- Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and closely with the First Assistant Secretary, Executive Leadership Group, and more broadly with staff across the network
- Use initiative, judgement, discretion, and effectively manage sensitive issues
- Effectively juggle a diverse workload, work well under pressure and prioritise to manage and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills - the ability to develop and manage networks and relationships
- Exercise foresight and the ability to plan ahead and creatively solve problems.
- Have integrity, be loyal and be self-aware.
- Good research and writing skills including the ability to summarise information succinctly.
- Work with a range of staff, be helpful and maintain a sense of calm in challenging circumstances.
