About the position
The Senior Research Support Officer works closely with the School Professional and Administration Team and the Associate Dean, Research and Industry Engagement (ADRIE) to deliver administrative and project support for research activities within the School of Psychology and Public Health. The role provides high-level support across a broad range of research operations, as outlined in the service catalogue and directed by the Senior Manager and ADRIE, to ensure the effective delivery of the School's annual research strategic objectives, with a particular emphasis on research revenue. At times, the role may prioritise support in areas of the School where research revenue targets are most likely to be achieved.
The position is part of the School's Professional Services team and is focused on enabling these objectives without duplicating responsibilities assigned to academic or school administrative staff, as defined in their position descriptions, thereby ensuring clear role boundaries and efficient task execution. Reporting to the School's Senior Manager, the Research Support Officer works collaboratively and flexibly with staff across the School and the wider University to support the School's research priorities and objectives.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have
* An undergraduate degree in any area relevant to the position with at least 4 years subsequent experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
* Ability to support budget development (using the Costing and Pricing Tool) and monitor, review and streamline workflows to ensure compliance and improve workflows with internal and external procedures and policies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in teams, and ability to manage multiple stakeholders to achieve outcomes and high level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive/confidential information.
* Demonstrated understanding of research administration and management systems, or proven ability to adapt and develop expertise in this area such as interpreting funding guidelines and advising researchers on eligibility, compliance, and application processes.
