Join to apply for the Family Support Coordinator - Eagleby South State School role at Queensland Government

Eagleby South State School is seeking a culturally responsive and community-focused Family Support Coordinator to strengthen connections between families, early-childhood providers and the school.

This Kindergarten‑Year 2 role involves early outreach, identifying potential students in the community, and building trusted relationships that support student engagement and wellbeing.

This is a temporary full‑time position until December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

Step Into Your Next Chapter

The Family Support Coordinator role is central to Eagleby South's early‑years strategy, working across the Kindergarten to Year 2 space to strengthen transitions, deepen family connections and ensure each child is welcomed and supported from the earliest point of engagement.

Responsibilities Include

* Build trusting, respectful relationships with families to strengthen their child's engagement, attendance and wellbeing.
* Partner with ECECs, Kindergartens, Early Years Networks and playgroups to identify potential students prior to enrolment and support smooth transitions into Prep.
* Work collaboratively with First Nations Elders, community leaders and Jinndi Mibunn to ensure culturally grounded and community led support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
* Engage with local community groups, family hubs and service providers to reduce barriers to learning and access essential supports. Celebrate and honour cultural identity through inclusive storytelling, events and family‑led initiatives.
* Strengthen school/family relationships to ensure all families feel welcome, valued and understood.
* Build collaborative partnerships with children, families, school staff and community organisations.
* Conduct early outreach to identify children not yet connected with school and promote early engagement.
* Support vulnerable families, including First Nations families, EAL/D families, students with disability and children in care.
* Use data to monitor attendance, wellbeing and engagement trends and evaluate the impact of interventions.
* Maintain accurate records and manage sensitive information appropriately.

Essential

* Strong understanding of Kindergarten–Year 2 transitions and experience partnering with ECECs.
* Proven ability to build trusting, culturally safe relationships with families to strengthen engagement and wellbeing.
* Experience working respectfully with First Nations families, including consultation with Elders and Indigenous leaders.
* Cultural responsiveness across diverse communities (Pacific Islander, Māori, African, South‑East Asian and others).
* Knowledge of trauma informed practice, family engagement frameworks and relevant legislation (Blue Card, Disability Standards for Education).

Desirable

* Understanding of early‑intervention pathways (NDIS, allied‑health, family support services).
* Experience connecting families with community groups, playgroups, faith‑based organisations and NGOs.
* Ability to work alongside interpreters and bilingual liaison workers to support multilingual families.
* Strong digital literacy for tracking referrals and engagement data.

Submit Your Application

* Attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant work history)
* Attach a 2‑page written statement in response to the attached role description.

We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.

Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.
