Phillip Riley has partnered with a leading global energy company in its search for an accomplished leader to drive the development of innovative energy projects and optimise hybrid energy solutions across its national portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation committed to the energy transition and continuous improvement, in leading technical project design, product delivery, and performance across the business.

About the Role

Reporting to the executive leadership team, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for developing renewable, hybrid energy, and clean projects from concept through to final investment decision (FID).

You'll oversee all aspects of product and project design, from technology selection and modelling through to pricing, risk assessment, and governance, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives, emerging technologies, and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the development of renewable, hybrid, and energy storage projects, managing all technical aspects from feasibility through to FID, including: technology selection, concept engineering, energy modelling, project scoping and pricing, and tender evaluation.
* Drive the continuous improvement of the company's energy solutions and design standards, ensuring competitiveness and innovation across markets.
* Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, meeting market needs whilst balancing technical opportunity with commercial and contractual risk.
* Provide strong leadership and mentoring to a high-performing technical team, fostering collaboration and capability growth.
* Oversee governance frameworks, risk management, and compliance across the project portfolio.
* Build strategic relationships with key suppliers, partners, and stakeholders to enhance delivery outcomes.

About You

You're a strategic and commercially minded engineering professional with a proven background in project development and delivery within the energy sector. You combine technical excellence with strong leadership and communication skills, and thrive in complex, fast-evolving environments.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical) or related field, with a Master's or MBA being advantageous.
* 10+ years in energy project development, with significant experience in renewables, remote energy, or hybrid energy systems.
* Proven success leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex projects through development stages.
* Strong understanding of hybrid system design, grid connection, energy modelling, and performance optimisation.
* Demonstrated ability to balance innovation with commercial rigour and risk management.
