The City of Salisbury's Field Services Department is dedicated to maintaining Council's essential infrastructure, ensuring that public spaces and assets remain safe, functional, and inviting. This comprehensive service includes the maintenance of buildings, workshops, fleet, and stores; civil infrastructure such as drainage, footpaths, and waste management; and the care of parks, landscapes, and open spaces. Specialized teams handle everything from arboriculture and turf management to pest control and security, while also responding to emergencies and maintaining contracts for features like reserve maintenance and cemetery services. Field Services plays a crucial role in supporting a vibrant and sustainable community.

About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Painter to join our dynamic Building Maintenance Team. In this hands-on role, you'll play a key part in maintaining and enhancing Council's building assets to a high standard. Your day-to-day work will involve a wide range of painting and general maintenance duties, including internal and external painting, graffiti removal, pressure cleaning, defect rectification, and other repair work across various Council facilities. As a collaborative team member, you will also be expected to operate plant and equipment safely, assist with audits, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, working outdoors, and making a visible difference in the community.

Key Responsibilities
* Undertake a variety of painting and general building maintenance tasks, including graffiti removal, gyprock repairs, plastering, and pressure cleaning
* Carry out internal and external painting to maintain building aesthetics and functionality
* Conduct inspections and identify defects requiring rectification
* Operate plant and equipment such as pressure cleaners, sand blasters, and elevated work platforms (EWPs)
* Drive light commercial vehicles to transport tools and materials to various sites
* Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition
* Erect temporary signage in compliance with Work Zone Traffic Management standards
* Accurately record daily work tasks, time, and materials used
* Liaise with external contractors to ensure quality and safety standards are met
* Follow safe work practices and contribute to a strong safety culture

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have
* Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (or similar trade qualification)
* Demonstrated technical competency and knowledge across a wide range of painting services
* Proven ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
* Licence to Operate Boom-Type Work Platform (EWP)
* Strong understanding of building assets and general maintenance requirements
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
* Confident in using technology to receive, action, and record maintenance tasks
* Current driver's licence, MR license favourable
* Additional licences such as Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, or WorkZone Traffic Management are desirable but not essential
