Opal Bag Solutions operates across Australia to provide tailored high performance paper bag and other paper-based packaging solutions. 
We have an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest packaging companies in Australia, as our Thomastown site is looking for an experienced electrician to come onboard and join the team on the afternoon shift (from 3pm until 11pm)! 
The key focus of this role will be to: 
Maintaining equipment condition and reliability so that company safety, production and quality targets can be achieved 
Provide technical support to the Maintenance and Production teams 
Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to minimize downtime, incl. 
contribution to routine planned shutdowns 
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and codes 
Assist with breakdowns and conducting troubleshooting analysis as required 
Excellent PLC knowledge and understanding to enable troubleshooting of equipment. 
Thorough knowledge and experience with powered drives, automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) and robotics 
Reading and understanding of Electrical schematics and drawings 
Experience working with Converting-type production lines in a FMCG environment (highly regarded) 
Solid knowledge and experience with industrial instrumentation and control systems

For this role we would like you to have: 
An Electrical A grade Licence (this is required) 
Experience working as an electrician in a FMCG manufacturing/ industrial environment 
Knowledge & experience in safe working practices and isolation processes 
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
Reliable and self-motivated individual with great work ethic 
Quick learner with a can-do attitude 
Ability to implement cost optimisation strategies within the spare parts management space 
A team player with effective communication (verbal & written) skills 
Computer Literacy – experience with Microsoft Office programs and other databases
