Reputable Local Council seeking a Project Engineer - Design on an initial contract with the view to extend.
Looking for a contract role where you can design infrastructure that actually gets built? This is your chance to step into a hands‑on civil design role working across roads, drainage and car parks and supporting a strong pipeline of capital works within a local government environment.
Your new local council
As a Project Engineer (Design), you'll play a key role in the investigation, concept design, cost estimation and detailed design of civil infrastructure projects. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders, consultants and developers, ensuring designs are compliant, buildable and fit for purpose.
This is a true technical + project delivery role and ideal for someone who enjoys variety, ownership and seeing projects move from concept to construction.
Your new role
* Designing roads, drainage, car parks and pathways from concept through to detailed design.
* Preparing design drawings, reports and cost estimates for capital works programs
* Reviewing and endorsing developer and consultant designs against standards and permit conditions.
* Investigating infrastructure issues raised by the community and proposing practical engineering solutions.
* Providing technical advice to internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Supporting project delivery through documentation, stakeholder coordination and budget awareness.
What you'll need to succeed
* Degree qualified in Civil Engineering
* Registered Professional Engineer (Victoria)
* Solid experience in the design of civil infrastructure (roads, drainage, car parks)
* Strong working knowledge of Australian standards and local government guidelines
* Proficiency in AutoCAD / Civil 3D & Civil Site Design
* Confident communicator who enjoys collaboration and problem‑solving
* Victorian driver's licence
