The Safety & Resilience Department plays a pivotal role in fostering a safe, prepared, and resilient organisation and community. With a focus on integrating internal services across Council, the department leads the charge in promoting health, safety, and wellbeing throughout operations. It also drives disaster management readiness and supports safety-related compliance initiatives within the broader community—ensuring that both Council and residents are equipped to respond effectively to emergencies and build long-term resilience.
This position provides a broad and varied range of administrative and logistical support to the Disaster and Emergency Resilience team, operating within the prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery (PPRR) framework. The role also contributes, under direction, to compliance-related activities across both safety and disaster functions.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- A genuine interest in disaster and emergency management, with a commitment to supporting community resilience.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to shifting priorities and agile emergency situations.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Familiarity with Guardian IMS or comparable emergency management software platforms.
- A Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent relevant experience.
- A current Fire Safety Advisor Certification, or a willingness to obtain one.
- A TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or a willingness to obtain this qualification.
- A current Queensland Driver’s Licence.
For this position we offer:
- Salary $82,791.82 - $90,205.62 per annum (Stream A, Level 3-4)
- Based in Moranbah
- Nominally 72.5 hours over a 9-day fortnight
- 5 weeks annual leave @ 17.5% loading
- Up to 14.5% super in accordance with IRC’s Certified Agreement
- RDO’s in accordance with IRC’s Certified Agreement
