The Role
As the Health & Safety Advisor, you will be an essential part of a team, supporting and influencing positive work health and safety (WHS) culture and outcomes across multiple locations that form Cockburn Cement's operations in Western Australia.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Business Partner, this permanent full-time opportunity is based at our Munster site, and will assist our operations to manage and maintain WHS compliance and systems, as well as supporting the implementation of H&S initiatives and programs as we continually improve our safety performance.
Regular travel to other Cockburn Cement locations within Western Australia will be required; however, travel arrangements are generally flexible.
Responsibilities
* Support and promote Adbri's vision of the Work Safe, Home Safe program and CRH H&S strategies to deliver continuous improvement in health, safety, and wellbeing.
* Provide advice and support to Operations to ensure compliance with H&S legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and standards.
* Support H&S training, competency, and communication programs to ensure all employees are trained, qualified, and competent, and that communication channels are effective within the organisation.
* Assist in coaching and mentoring Managers, Supervisors, and Team Leaders in investigations, audits, and other risk management activities.
* Conduct routine assurance activities to monitor safe systems of work and related documentation, communicating findings and opportunities for improvement to relevant work teams.
* Support the development and delivery of H&S plans and initiatives.
* Undertake regular visits to operational sites to deliver training, complete site audits, assist key staff in risk assessments, and attend to safety-related matters promptly as situations arise.
* Provide regular reports on H&S performance and trends as required.
What you will need to succeed
* At least 3 years in a similar position, preferably in a mining or heavy industry environment.
* Recognised occupational health and safety qualification.
* Qualifications or experience in conducting incident investigations, e.g., ICAM.
* Experience in WHS auditing and training is desirable.
* Ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders to establish strong professional relationships and influence behaviors.
* Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
* A self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with strong decision-making abilities.
