In this pivotal role, reporting to the General Manager, you'll lead our Environment and Community team, providing strategic and operational direction across all areas of environmental management, community engagement, and Indigenous relations. Your leadership will ensure these functions are aligned with both our operational objectives and broader corporate initiatives.

You'll oversee Setting and Community responsibilities for Fosterville Gold Mine as well as our Regional Exploration sites across Victoria. This includes managing environmental compliance, regulatory relationships, community partnerships, and the development of social responsibility strategies that reflect both operational priorities and community expectations.

Key objectives for the role include:

Leadership and Coordination

Lead and support the Environment & Community team, fostering a culture of proactive engagement and accountability. Collaborate across departments to embed environmental and community priorities into planning, operations, and financial forecasting.

Risk Identification and Mitigation

Apply risk management frameworks to identify and address environmental and community risks, including emerging social license and reputational challenges. Engage stakeholders to proactively manage sustainability risks and opportunities.

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management

Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies, maintaining strong relationships with government agencies, Traditional Owners, local communities, and industry partners. Ensure transparent communication and regulatory compliance through active liaison and reporting.

Community, Indigenous Relations Programs and Initiatives

Deliver community and Indigenous development initiatives aligned with corporate social responsibility goals. Represent the company in formal agreements and committees to support long‑term partnerships and shared outcomes.

Sustainability and ESG Programs

Coordinate site‑wide sustainability programs including climate action, water stewardship, and waste management. Monitor ESG performance and support internal reporting aligned with corporate frameworks and protocols.

Environmental Compliance and Systems

Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of environmental systems and procedures. Ensure compliance through audits, approvals, and strategic guidance to operational teams in line with statutory and corporate standards.

About you

You're a collaborative and empathetic leader with deep expertise in environmental and community engagement, ideally within the mining or resources sector. Known for your integrity, emotional intelligence, and commitment to continuous improvement, you bring strong stakeholder management skills, technical capability, and a people‑first approach to mentoring teams and driving sustainable outcomes.

You will need to hold a degree in Environmental Sciences or Community Development/Social Science or have relevant experience.

Experience in mining or resources is a strong advantage.

The roster for this residential position will be Monday – Friday, 40 hour week.

A competitive salary will be offered commensurate with the successful applicant's qualifications, knowledge and experience. If required, relocation assistance will be provided. A functional capacity/medical assessment and a national crime check will form part of the recruitment process.
