As an Area Service Manager, you will lead field service and maintenance operations across your assigned area—driving safe execution, service quality, team performance, customer satisfaction, and service profitability. You will manage and develop your team, ensure service contracts are delivered effectively, and use service cost and financial data to continuously improve outcomes.
What are your key responsibilities:
Service Delivery & Day-to-Day Operations
* Lead day-to-day service and maintenance operations across the assigned area.
* Support service programme execution to ensure uptime, responsiveness, and contract delivery.
* Coordinate repair and service activity to keep work safe, efficient, and compliant.
Team Leadership & Workforce Planning
* Manage technicians, dispatchers, leading hands, supervisors, and administration staff.
* Oversee workforce planning, rostering, delegation, and performance management.
* Drive capability development and support technicians and supervisors to perform at their best.
HSE, Quality & Incident Reporting
* Own safe execution of repair and service activity including HSE compliance and incident reporting.
* Ensure work is completed to required standards and in line with safety and quality expectations.
Customer Service & Contract Outcomes
* Ensure service contracts are delivered effectively and with strong customer satisfaction.
* Build professional customer relationships and understand customer needs.
Service Profitability, Costs & Reporting
* Review service cost and financial data to improve service profitability.
* Support budgeting, warranty processes, parts planning, and service cost control.
Stakeholder Collaboration
* Coordinate with Sales, HR, operations stakeholders, and customer representatives.
* Support pricing, reporting, and service administration requirements.

What you bring to the role:
Experience & Leadership
* Extensive maintenance experience.
* Substantial experience in a managerial/supervisory position.
* Experience managing service teams, including customer-facing service delivery.
Qualifications & Education
* Minimum Year 10 / High School education.
* Relevant trades certificate.
* One of the following, or a clearly equivalent qualification related to heavy vehicle, mobile plant, or engineering maintenance:
o AUR Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle
o AUR Cert III in Mobile Plant
o MEM Cert III in Engineering
Location, Availability & Nice-to-haves
* Based in Adelaide, Australia.
* Ability to travel throughout South Australia and the Northern Territory.
* Experience in contract-led field service environments, including uptime or SLA accountability, is highly regarded.
* Experience supporting parts stock inventory management and parts availability support is highly regarded.
* SAP or similar service or maintenance systems experience is highly regarded.
* Experience managing remotely based service personnel across a dispersed territory is highly regarded.
