Job Description
* Lead strategic planning to assess network capabilities, identify constraints, and develop solutions for future electricity demand.
* Deliver power system studies using simulation tools (e.g. PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD) and translate complex analysis into actionable insights.
* Manage non-network solutions to reduce demand and defer capital investment, applying strong commercial and regulatory acumen.
* Prepare and communicate regulatory investment proposals, planning reports (DAPR, TCPR), and compliance documentation.
* Provide technical leadership on network augmentation, bushfire safety compliance (REFCL), and contingency planning.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g. AEMO, DEECA, AER) to shape network strategy and ensure regulatory alignment.
* Support continuous improvement, innovation, and safety across planning processes and engineering practices.
The Successful Applicant
* A qualified electrical engineer with extensive experience in electricity network planning and asset management.
* Proficient in power system analysis tools such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, or PSCAD, with Python programming skills highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of the National Electricity Rules, regulatory frameworks, and energy market dynamics.
* Skilled in stakeholder engagement, including regulators, government bodies, and internal teams.
* Experienced in developing regulatory investment proposals, planning reports, and business cases.
* Knowledgeable in network protection, control devices, and bushfire mitigation technologies (e.g. REFCL).
* Able to manage multiple complex projects, simplify technical concepts, and drive continuous improvement.
* Collaborative, curious, and committed to safety, innovation, and delivering strategic outcomes.
