Acting Area Manager
Full time / Fixed Term (leave cover until 19 Jan 2026) – Dowsing Point, TAS.
About the Role
Reporting to the State Operations Manager, this Area Manager position is responsible for the delivery of Supported Independent Living (SIL) services across Hobart. The role is a fixed‐term leave coverage and will be supported by a national team of experienced Area Managers who help maintain high‐quality care for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Service Excellence – ensure clients receive individualized services that enable them to achieve their goals, participate in meaningful activities and enjoy the life of their choosing.
- Work with clients, families, third‐party providers, health professionals, advocates, government agencies and Able Australia staff to optimise client plans.
- People Leadership and Management – manage a team of diverse and dedicated Team Leaders who supervise permanent and casual disability support workers.
- Coach, train and inspire teams to ensure excellence in service delivery.
- Participate in staff planning, recruitment, service training and performance reviews as required.
- Business Development & Financial Management – attend conferences, events and expos to represent Able Australia and support service expansion.
- Maintain quality assurance, risk management, compliance and champion Able Australia's policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience Required
- Experience managing a team professionally with demonstrated success in leading change.
- Experience in service management and coordination of disability service programs.
- Expertise in developing high‐performance teams by creating great working relationships and earning trust.
- Ability to network and connect with stakeholders across multiple internal and external levels.
- Experience in the disability services sector, NDIS/NDIA or similar environments such as aged, health or special education providing leadership to vulnerable people.
- Knowledge of legislation and regulation covering the delivery of disability services and quality & compliance requirements.
- Operational understanding or experience with client relationship management and workflow systems (e.g., CareLink).
Desirable
- Tertiary qualification in disability services, management, aged care, special education or health services.
