The Role

Geraldton SHS is seeking to appoint a hardworking and dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our friendly team. The successful applicant will ideally have initiative, good interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, as well as exceptional organisational skills. You will ideally be motivated and possess the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently. As part of your normal responsibilities, you will prepare chemicals, equipment, and materials. In addition, you will manage laboratory stocks, including ordering of supplies and equipment and materials.

There may be opportunity to increase the FTE of this position in the future.

Eligibility

* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

* A CV of up to four (4) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position.
* An up to three (3) page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF
o Demonstrated experience working within a science laboratory, including knowledge of laboratory techniques and relevant safety and legislative requirements.
o Demonstrated knowledge of science subjects relevant to the curriculum taught in secondary schools and the ability to design and construct experiments and equipment to support curriculum requirements.
o Demonstrated good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
o Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work independently.
o Demonstrated well‑developed keyboarding and computer skills including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
