Estimating Manager - Structural Steel Fabrication & Erection
Universal Welding Services, a family-owned structural steel fabrication and erection company that has been operating in the business for over 45 years, is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fabrication & Erection Estimating Manager to join our team of professionals. We specialise in commercial, industrial, and infrastructure steelwork.
About the Role
This is a senior role working closely with the Director, responsible for delivering accurate, commercially competitive pricing while leading and developing the estimating team and system. This role plays a critical role in tendering success, project profitability and the overall commercial performance of the business.
As the Estimating Manager, you will have full accountability for the estimating function, including tender strategy, estimating accuracy and system development/ maintenance.
Responsibilities
* Manage online estimating platforms to source tender opportunities.
* Manage the system and the process of providing accurate and detailed BOQ’s from Client drawings and information.
* Produce detailed allowance reports for fabrication and installation costs.
* Produce detailed project budgets for procurement and management teams.
* Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, ensuring excellent customer service.
* Performance for this role will be measured against agreed KPIs, included but not limited to accuracy of estimates, timeliness of submissions, and tender success rates.
Skills & Experience
* Minimum 2 years of experience estimating in structural steel fabrication / erection.
* Proven ability to read and interpret structural & fabrication drawings.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas / templates).
* Have a “can do” attitude and be willing to lead a team of like minded professionals to produce highly accurate project pricing.
* High attention to detail, organisation, and accountability.
